Year 5 - Spring Term - Gymnastics & Hockey

Year 5 have continued their ongoing focus on gymnastics and hockey this week, showing good levels of engagement and progression across both activities.

In hockey, students have been developing their fundamental knowledge and skills through a variety of circuit-based activities. These circuits incorporated shooting, dribbling, passing and agility, allowing students to practise key techniques while improving their speed, control and decision-making. The sessions encouraged students to apply these skills in game-related situations, helping to build confidence and overall match awareness.

In gymnastics, students have expanded their understanding of gymnastic terminology and developed their use of equipment to support more creative thinking. They explored how to link movements effectively, using a combination of rolls, balances, travels and jumps to create structured sequences. This has helped Year 5 to refine their control, coordination and creativity while working towards more polished routines.
