Over the last few week, Year 5 have been taking part in both athletics and basketball, engaging in a broad range of activities designed to develop their physical skills and deepen their understanding of each sport.

In athletics, students have been rotating through a variety of events, including throwing, jumping, relay races, sprint and endurance running. Each station has focused on refining specific techniques, such as improving accuracy and power in throwing, developing rhythm and control in jumping, and enhancing coordination and teamwork during relay activities. Overall, students have been working hard to improve their performance across all areas while also learning to evaluate and adjust their techniques.

In basketball, the emphasis has been on building confidence in game play and applying previously learned skills, such as passing, dribbling, and shooting within small-sided matches. Students have been encouraged to think tactically, make quick decisions, and communicate effectively with their teammates. Their enthusiasm has been evident throughout, and they have demonstrated strong teamwork, resilience, and a growing understanding of the rules and strategies involved in the sport. It has been particularly positive to see students supporting and encouraging one another during each lesson.
