Our Local Area

 This week the children were introduced to their new topic: Our Local Area

They began by looking at the Isle of Wight and locating towns and villages as there are no cities on the Isle of Wight. It was very interesting to see the amount of children that did not know where Ryde was located as well as Newport. 

From there they narrowed their view to Cowes. Using an aerial map they identified how the local area was being used currently.

Over the last few week, Year 5 have been taking part in both athletics and basketball, engaging in a broad range of activities designed to develop their physical skills and deepen their understanding of each sport. French: conjugating the verb - jouer

 Year 5 revised the different genres of music and the names of different musical instruments. They identified jouer as a verb and practised saying the different verb endings with the matching personal pronouns, by pointing an each other where appropriate. They then completed some sheets filling in the correct ending of the verb.
