How has our local area changed since 1890
Recapping previous learning from last lesson showed all remembered different towns and villages on the island.
Then, they compared and contrasted two different maps of Cowes and East Cowes in 1890 and 2022. In pairs they compared the maps to see how Cowes has changed over the years both physically and how man may have changed it. There were some amazing discussions and the children were able to see that there used to be piers in Cowes as well as a train track. Others recognised that there was more beach in East Cowes years ago but today it has been built on. Using their observations the class then debated what the map would look like in a hundred years.
